Appliqué 5 - Coasters with text/Kaffemuggsunderlägg med text Part 2

Brodera kaffemuggsunderläggen på Brodérmaskinen

Du måste först stygnsätta Kaffemuggsunderläggen i Embroidery Software. Se tidigare anvisningar i Appliqué 1-4. Här är en snabb påminnelse.

1.

Bild som ska användas som mall.                                              

2. Färg 1

Stygnsätta en ”raksömslinje” (Running Stitches) för att visa placering.

3. Färg 2

Stygnsätta en ”raksömslinje” (Running Stitches) för att fästa tyg till ovansidan och vadd på vattenlösligt mellanlägg i brodérbågen.  

4. Färg 3

Stygnsätta ett ”stipplings-mönster” (typ frihandsquiltning) som en "fyllnadsyta”.

5. Färg 4

Stygnsätta en ”raksömslinje” (Running Stitches) för att fästa baksidestyg.

6. Färg 5

Stygnsätta en Sicksack söm för att "försegla kanterna".                

7. Färg 6

Stygnsätta en Satin söm att försegla kanterna.                             

Glöm inte att infoga ”fäststygn” där det behövs.

Spara designen - både i "Stygnsättnings" format och i broderi format.

I det Embroidery Software jag har – 5 D Embroidery Software – så kan jag ändra stipplingsmönstret till något annat mönster och exempelvis få det som det andra kaffemuggsunderlägget jag gjort utan text och med samma mönster på både fram- och baksida. Jag behöver alltså inte göra om hela proceduren.

Text

Öppna designen för Kaffemuggsunderlägget i den del av ”ditt” Embroidery Software där du kan lägga till bokstäver. Använd ett typsnitt du gillar och har i ”ditt” Embroidery Software och skriv "Kaffe". Placera texten i Kaffemuggsunderlägget och kombinera ihop de bägge broderidesignen.

Färgordning

Nu till den viktiga delen - och det är att kontrollera att alla färger är i rätt "sy/broderi" ordning. Du kan färgsortera texten, men inte resten av designen, så ha olika färg på de olika stegen. Allt som allt bör du nu ha 7 färger. Färgen på texten ska placeras efter ”stipplingsmönstret” och före raksömslinjen som fäster baksidestyget.

Färg på tråden när man syr

Även om du har 7 olika färger när du stygnsatt denna design betyder det inte att du måste använda 7 olika färger när du syr ut/broderar designen. De olika färgerna är bara där för att skilja de olika stegen åt och göra så att maskinen stannar så att du kan klippa tyg eller lägga till tyg. Jag har använt en enda färg i hela designen och jag har använt samma färg i övertråden liksom i undertråden.

Embroidering the Coasters in the hoop

You must first digitize the Coaster design in the Embroidery Software. See previous part in Appliqué 1-4. Here is a quick reminder.

1.

Image to use as a template.                                                     

2. Colour 1

Digitize a placement line.

3. Colour 2

Digitize running stitches to fasten top fabric and batting to the water soluble stabilizer in the hoop.

4. Colour 3

Digitize a stippling pattern as a “fill pattern”.

5. Colour 4

Digitize running stitches to fasten the fabric on the back.                   

6. Colour 5

Digitize Zigzag stitches to “seal the edges”

7. Colour 6

Digitize Satin stitches to “seal the edges”.

Don’t forget to insert “Tie off” stitches where needed.

Save the design – both in “digitizing” format and in embroidery format.

In the Embroidery Software I have – 5 D Embroidery Software – I can easily change the stippling pattern to another pattern and very quickly I can make the  coaster with the crosshatch fill without doing it all over again.

Text

Open the “Coaster” design in the Embroidery Software part where you can add lettering. Use a font you like and have in your software and write “Coffee”. Position the lettering in the Coaster and combine the designs.

Order of colours

Now to the important part – and that is to check that all your colours are in the correct “sewing/embroidery” order. You can colour sort the text but not the rest of the design, so keep all steps in different colours. All in all you should now have 7 colours. The colour of the text should be placed after the stippling pattern and before the running stitches that fasten the fabric on the back.

Colour of thread when sewing

Even if you have 7 different colours when digitizing this design it does not mean you must use 7 different colours when embroidering the design. The different colours are just there to separate the different steps and make the machine stop so that you can cut fabric or add fabric. I have used one single colour throughout the entire design and I used the same colour in the upper thread as well as in the bobbin thread.

Instruktion för broderi/Embroidery instruction

1.

Spänn vattenlösligt mellanlägg i bågen. Jag har använt remsor tillverkade av STOPP halkskydd (från IKEA) för att mellanlägget ska sitta fast och inte glida i bågen.

Hoop water soluble stabilizer in the hoop. I have used strips made from “STOPP” Anti Slip underlay (from IKEA) to keep the stabilizer from shifting in the hoop.

2.

Brodera placeringslinjen på det  vattenlösliga mellanlägget i brodérbågen.

Embroider the placement line on the water soluble stabilizer in the hoop.

3.

Lägg ett lager tunn vadd och tyget för ovansidan över placeringslinjen i brodérbågen.

Put a layer of thin batting and on top of that the top fabric over the placement line in the hoop.

4.

Sy sömmen som fäster tyg och vadd på mellanlägget.

Embroider the seam that fastens the fabric and batting to the stabilizer.

5.

Fortsätt att brodera själva stipplingsmönstret.

Continue to embroider the stippling pattern.

6.

Brodera texten.

Embroider the text.
