I have baked Gingerbread cookies

Jag har bakat pepparkakor. ”Receptet finns i 5 D Stitch Editor” och kakorna ”gräddas färdigt i min brodermaskin”.

Du behöver även följande "ingredienser":

• Brun hobbyfilt
• Rivbart mellanlägg
• Brun och vit maskinbrodertråd
• Ev. en bit snöre eller band till hängare

Ja, det lät som en saga eller hur?

Men helt osant är det inte - för jag har faktiskt gjort ”designen” till pepparkakorna i 5 D Stitch Editor och sytt ut dem på min brodermaskin.

I have baked Gingerbread cookies. The “recipe can be found in 5 D Stitch Editor” and the cookies are “baked in my Embroidery Machine”.

You also need the following "ingredients":

• Brown felt
• Tear away stabilizer
• Brown and white machine embroidery thread
• String or other ribbons to use as hangers

It does sound like a fairytale, doesn't it?

Well, but it is not entirely untrue - because I did create “the design” for the cookies in 5 D Stitch Editor and they are embroidered on my Embroidery Machine.

The cookies have just been taken out of the ”oven” (read embroidery machine)
                   and are still on the ”baking plate” (read in the hoop).

Pepparkakor hör verkligen julen till och man kan enkelt göra pepparkakor med kristyr i 5 D Stitch Editor som är en del av 5 D Professional Software.

Jag ska utnyttja samma funktion som jag gjorde när jag skapade jul dekorationerna som jag visade i ett tidigare blogg-inlägg,  "Christmas Ornaments" , men jag ska även leka lite med en effekt som heter ”Morphing”.

Gingerbread cookies “is Christmas” and can easily be made with icing in the 5 D Stitch Editor which is part of the 5 D Professional Software.

I will use the same functions as I did when I created the Christmas decorations that I showed in a previous blog, "Christmas Ornaments",  but I'll also use an effect called “Morphing”.

Jag började med att skapa ett hjärta genom att använda de ”shapes” som finns när man skapar en bård eller applikation i 5 D Stitch Editor. Det första hjärtat ”ritas” i en storlek av 5 x 5 cm. Jag använde en bredd om ca 2.8-3 mm på satin bården men det kan man justera efter tycke och smak. Använd sen "appliqué eller border" funktionen.

Gör sen ett andra hjärta runt det första hjärtat – rita det i en storlek av 7 x 7 cm. Innan du ”verkställer” kan man behöva justera placeringen höjdmässigt av det yttre hjärtat.

I started by creating a heart by using the "shapes" that are available when creating borders or appliqué in 5 D Stitch Editor. The first heart "is drawn" in a size of 5 x 5 centimeters (50 x 50 millimeters). I set the width of the satin border to approximately 2.8-3 millimeters (but of course you set the width to your personal preference). Then - choose either the border or appliqué function.

Then I did a second heart around the first heart - draw it in a size of 7 x 7 centimeters (70x70 millimeters). Before you "apply” the changes it may be necessary to adjust the placement/height of the outer heart.

The inner heart is "twisted" with the "Morphing function"

Jag använde mig sen av den variant av "Morphing" som kallas "Twirl", men bara på det innersta hjärtat. Tycker man att det är enklare kan man använda ”Morphing funktionen” redan när man skapat det första hjärtat, det är en smaksak. Det är jättehäftigt att klicka på bården och se den bli vågig. Titta på bilden nedan - hjärtana i översta raden är bara de 2 hjärtana med satinsöm som jag skapade i 5 D Stitch Editor och den vita satinsömmen är som den ser ut innan jag använt mig av "Morphing funktionen". Hur det ser ut när man använt "Morphing funktionen" ses i den understa raden. Häftigt, inte sant?

I then used a "Morphing function" called "Twirl", but only on the inner heart. If you find it easier you can use the “Morphing effect” after you’ve created the first heart, it is a personal preference. It is really fascinating to click on the border, and watch it become wavy. Look at the picture below - the hearts in the top row is just the 2 hearts with satin stitches that I created in 5 D Stitch Editor and the white satin stitches is what it looks like before I used the "Morphing feature". How it looks when you've used the "Morphing feature" can be seen in the row below. Cool isn’t it?

Here the cookies are on the “baking plate” (read in the hoop).

        They have now been decorated with ”the icing”

   (read satin stitches "twisted" with the Morphing effect).

Jag spänner rivbart mellanlägg i broderbågen och fäster ett lager filt ovanpå. Vill man ha ”kristyr” (läs satinsöm) synligt på bägge sidor lägger man ett lager filt under bågen på baksidan av det rivbara mellanlägget. Se då till att använda samma färg på över- och undertråd.

Jag väljer här att sy den yttersta satinbården i en brun nyans som matchar filttyget. Den vågiga satinbården som ska föreställa "kristyr" syr jag i vitt, likaså den ”raka bården”.

I hoop tear away stabilizer in the hoop and put a layer of felt on top. If you want “icing” (read satin stitches) visable on both sides you can add a layer of felt under the hoop at the back of the tear away stabilizer. In that case make sure to use the same color on top and in the bobbin.

I have used brown thread matching the brown felt fabric on the outer border. The wavy satin border which is supposed to be "icing" is sewn in white, as well as the “straight satin border”.

Sen, om jag inte valt att sy genom bägge lagren av filt, så gör jag precis som jag gjorde Julprydnaderna i ett tidigare blogg inlägg. Jag sydde fast ett lager filt på baksidan samtidigt som jag fäste öglan för upphängning. Jag har förpreparerat snörena genom att göra en liten ögla och sätta på en droppe lim.

If you haven’t sewn through both layers of felt you will now proceed as descriebed in the previous blog post with the "Christmas Ornaments". Add a layer of felt on the back and at the same time  fasten loop when sewing through the layers. I have prepared the loops by twisting them and putting on a drop of glue.
