Storing of Sewing Needles

För att göra en liten paus i den långa serien av syinstruktioner för kassen/väskan jag håller på med så tänkte jag göra ett annat blogg inlägg. Men vi kommer att fortsätta med kassen/väskan, så oroa er inte.  Vi måste ju avsluta det vi börjat med – eller hur? :-)

När man syr använder man synålar och knappnålar. Men hur förvarar ni dem?

To make a small break in the long series of the “bag tutorial” I thought I would make another blog post. But we will continue with the bag, so don’t worry.  We do have to finish what we've started, don’t we? :-)

When sewing we use sewing needles and pins. But where do we keep them?

Jag förvarar oftast mina knappnålar  en liten plåtask - och i den brukar det även hamna vanliga synålar.

Ni förstår problemet, eller hur?

Hur som helst - jag har två praktiska saker att visa er. Jag har gjort den ena av ett  "in-the-hoop" broderi och den andra köpte jag förra veckan.

I usually keep my pins in a tin box – and I usually end up putting some of the sewing needles in there as well.

You see the problem – don’t you? :-)

Anyway – I have two practical things to show you. One I have made from an “in-the-hoop” embroidery design and the other one I bought last week.

Här är utsidan av Nålbrevet - som är gjord som ett Patchwork ”in-the-hoop”. Jag har använt "guld" metalltråd till de fina sömmarna som gör att det får ett ”Crazy Quilt” utseende.

Here is the outside of the Needle case – which is made as “Patchwork in-the-hoop”, and I have used “gold” metallic thread as embellishment. This makes it have a "Crazy Quilt" look .

När man öppnar det finns där 2 filt sidor där man kan sätta synålarna. Jag tror till och med att jag kommer att ha symaskinsnålar i den.

When you open it there are 2 felt pages where you can put the sewing needles. I believe I will even have sewing machine needles in it.

Detta är en kul grej - nästan som en liten läppstiftshylsa. Inuti finns ett utrymme med en magnet som håller nålarna på plats. Man lägger ner dem med spetsen ner och sedan skruvar man upp den och vips så kommer nålarna upp. Mycket praktiskt.

Så nu kan jag kanske kan hitta mina synålar lite snabbare :-)

På tal om synålar och knappnålar – så kommer de till användning i projektet med kassen jag håller på med.

This is a fun thing – like a little lipstick case. Inside there is a case with a magnet that holds the needles. You put them in there with the sharp point down and then you twist it and the needles come up. Very practical.

So now I might be able to find my sewing needles a bit quicker :-)

And speaking of sewing needles and pins – they will be useful in the project with the tote bag I am making.
