Jag kommer här arbeta med flera lager tyg. Jag
kommer dels ha en mjuk tyll, bomullstyg samt en tunn vadd. Tanken är att tyllen
med dessa ”Shadow Lace Embroideries” ska vara ett extra lager utanpå
”mobilfodralet” – och därmed skapa en ”skuggeffekt”.
I will use
multiple layers of fabric. I will use a soft tulle, cotton fabric and a thin
batting. The idea is that the tulle with the "Shadow Lace
Embroideries" will be an extra layer on the outside of the cellphone case
– creating the “Shadow effect”.
Broderiet kommer att broderas på tyllen som spänns
tillsammans med det genomskinliga tjocka vattenlösliga mellanlägget i
broderbågen.
The design
will be embroidered on the tulle which will be hooped together with the thick,
clear water soluble stabilizer in the hoop.
Hur mäter jag då enklast måtten på mobilen så att
fodralet kommer att passa? Det absolut
enklaste är att bara lägga in mobilen i en bit vanligt kopieringspapper, nåla i
sidorna och kontrollera att mobilen lätt kan stoppas i och tas ut ur fodralet
men samtidigt att det inte är alltför mycket utrymme så den glider ut. (Detta
är inte den mobil jag har till mitt fodral – det är bara så att ni ska få en
idé om hur jag gör). Sen gör jag en finjustering på samma sätt med de ihopsatta
”tyglagren” – innan de ska sys samman i sidorna. Det kommer ju att ändras lite eftersom det är flera lager tyg och vadd - men en prototyp är alltid bra
att ha. Likaså är det väldigt bra att printa ut en template av designen ur
sitt Embroidery Software.
How do I
measure the cellphone so that the case will fit? The easiest is to just put the
cell phone into a piece of ordinary copy paper, pin the sides and make sure the phone can be
put in and taken out easily but make sure there isn’t too much “spare room” at
the sides so that it will fall out. (This is not the mobile I have in the cell
phone case I have sewn - it's just so that you may get an idea of what I have done). Then I make a final
adjustment in the same way with the finished "fabric layers” – before the
side seams will be sewn. There will be minor changes as there are several layers of fabric and batting - but a prototype is always good to have. Likewise, it
is great to print out a template of the design from the Embroidery Software.
Lägg till ca 1 cm vid var sida och i överkant ska
det vara ca 2,5-3 cm tillgodo om man ”klämmer ihop” kanterna.
Add about 10
millimeters (about 3/8 inches) at each side (for the binding) and on the top -
it should be about 25 – 30 millimeters (about 1 – 1 ¼ inches) left if you press the edges together.
Klipp ut pappret enligt de måtten. Nu har du en
mall på det ”färdiga måttet”. Observera att detta är det mått den färdiga delen
ska ha när allt är broderat och hopsytt så man behöver lägga till i sidorna och
överkant. Det är alltid lättare att kunna klippa bort än att lägga till.
Cut the paper
according to the measurements. Now you have a template of the "final
measurements". Please note that - to this template - seam allowances and some
extra must be added at the sides and at the top. Remember that it is always
easier to cut away than to add.
Jag har ritat en skiss med den båge 240 x 150
millimeter som jag använt och hur broderierna placerats. Den blå streckade
linjen är tyllen som är större eftersom bågens höjd är mindre än höjden på
väskan.
Eftersom jag vill ha en längd som kommer vara ca 30
cm och jag vill att broderiet ska se likadant ut på bägge sidor och alltså även
vara åt samma håll så måste jag tänka smart. Dessutom måste jag tänka på vilka
avstånd designen ska placeras på från den vikta botten (mitten av bågen) samt vilket avstånd som ska vara till den övre kanten. Eftersom brodérytan är 24 cm så är det 6 cm
som fattas totalt – alltså 3 cm på vardera sida av "höjden". Det blir ett alldeles
utmärkt avstånd till toppen på ”mobilfodralet”. Jag tar hjälp av 5 D
Embroidery Software och placerar ut designen. Kom ihåg att eftersom tyget är
vikt i botten så måste den andra designen roteras 180 grader så att den ser
likadan ut på bägge sidor när mobilfodralet väl är hopvikt.
I've drawn a
sketch using the 240 x 150 millimeters hoop, which I used showing how the
embroidery was placed. The dashed line in blue is the tulle which is larger
than the hoop as the height of the hoop is less than the height of the cellphone
case.
Since I want
to have a length that will be about 30 centimeters (about 11 ¾ inches) and I
want the embroidery to look the same on both sides, as well as be in the same
direction, I have to think smart. In
addition, I have to consider where the design will be placed and the distance
from the folded bottom (middle of the hoop I use) and the top. As the
embroidery area is 24 centimeters (about 9 3/8 – 9 1/2 inches) there is 6
centimeters (2 1/3 inches) that has to be added, which means 3 centimeters (1
1/4 inches) on each side of the "height". I use 5 D Embroidery Software and place/position
the designs accordingly. Please remember – as the fabric is folded at the
bottom the second design must be rotated 180 degrees so that it looks the same
on both sides once the cellphone case is folded together.
